Collection: 10 Graduation Day Ideas Using Dab and Dot Markers and Gel Crayons

June is the month of graduation and celebrations. Teachers are busy prepping the program, banners and other decor for graduation! Have you decided your theme of the year yet? Here are 10 Ideas on how to use Dab and Dot Markers and Gel Crayons for your Graduation Day!

DAB AND DOT MARKERS

1. Graduation Program

Use dab and dot markers on the corners of the graduation pages to give the program a personal touch for when the program is printed. This can be a great activity to put in the Art Center of your classroom: Simply set up the center with a tray of computer paper ( that you plan to print the graduation program on); another tray with the Dab and Dot Markers and have the children dab and away at the corners. Tape up one or several samples of where the Dots should be on the paper. If you prefer the Dots to go around the border instead of just the corners, go for it! The children will feel proud when their families come and get to see the work they contributed towards the Graduation Program.

2. Graduation Banner

Match the Polka-dot theme and create a banner using the dab and dot markers. You can leave triangle, square, rectangular, fish, hearts or whatever shape you want your banner to be made of (based on your theme this year) in the tray at the art center, along with another tray with dab and dot markers. Teachers can whole such the dotted paper and create a colorful banner for across the room or stage. If you prefer just one color for the banner, then just use the one color you want; If you prefer doing a pattern of red and black, that can work too. There are so many varieties of what you can do with them.

3. Graduation Decorvia Hopscotch MomCreate spirals that you can hang from the ceiling for graduation day or link strips of paper together! Use it as a banner or use a large roll of paper to make jumbo size ones to mimic waves all around the classroom.

4. Graduation Props

Doing an underwater theme? Create the backdrop with your students! Use blue Dab and Dot markers to create the ocean. Use green to create seaweed; red to create corals. For an earth inspired backdrop, you can use the green and blue dab markers to create the earth or have children dab away abstractly with blue and green to create the earth.

GEL CRAYONS

Create rainbow waves using the Gel Crayons for a rainbow theme all around the program; or draw doodles of rainbows at the top of the page and print colored photocopies of them, giving the paper a unique personalized look. and feel. Photocopy can also minimize the drawings from smudging, as families flip through the programs. You can have different students volunteer for illustrate different parts of the page, such as Table of Contents, Graduates, Poems and Songs, Coverage and etc.

2. Graduation Banner

Use the Gel Crayons to create waves and/or stripes for your banner; smudge it or brush water over it to create a watercolor look for your banner; or leave it as is!

3. Graduation Decor

(see image above in Dab and Dot Markers #3)

For an underwater theme, you can create waves with the shades of blue and white on large poster paper, cut and hang it from your ceiling. Smudging it or using water can give the waves a more 3-D effect.

4. Graduation Props

For an underwater theme, have students create sea animals of fishes, sharks, octopus, jellyfish using the Gel Crayons and brush over for a watercolor effect! Stick them onto popsicle sticks and you have a souvenir kids can take home from their graduation day and use for their song, poem or play. If you are doing a zoo or farm animal theme, you can also use the gel crayons to create the animals.

5. Graduation Scene

via Hopscotch MomIf you are planning to set up a diversity theme, you may want your students to create self portraits of their faces or whole self maybe holding hand to hand to use as a backdrop for graduation day. If you are planning to do an underwater theme, you can use it to create the entire ocean using the various shades of blue and white; with the option of blending them with your hands to smudge or add water to create the watercolor effect.
