Collection: Shibori Technique - Kanko

The closest technique to what is commonly thought of as modern tie-dye. This involves binding certain sections of fabric to achieve the desired pattern, usually with rubber bands.

Step 1

For this method, you can choose to create one large bullseye design or various smaller ones. We’re focusing on creating various smaller patterns here, but if you want to create one large bullseye, choose the place in your fabric you want to be the center. Pinch the fabric at that point and pull upwards.

Step 2

To create smaller bullseye patterns (shown here), follow the same pinch technique but only use between 2 and 4 rubber band increments per bundle.

Step 3

Create as many smaller bundles as you like/as your fabric piece allows.
