As a mom, what were some of the challenges you faced? What were some of the things you learned about yourself or your kids?
You can only love, be patient, forgive more than you can think of when you become a Mom. On top of that, you also need to know at least everything when your child is starting to ask questions.
What is the biggest lesson your mother (or an important female figure) in your life taught you?
Love for yourself and patience with your children.
What makes you most proud of your mom (or important female figure)?
She always puts us first. I always call my Mom whenever I need someone to console me or to consult with.

The biggest challenge for me was coping up with the changes in my life. I knew my life was going to change but I didn't know it was going to change this drastically. So much responsibility came with the baby for which I was ready but yet I wasn't. The first 6 months were very hard for me.
The thing I learned about me is that I am a very patient and caring person, I can take on pressure, work very hard and still smile. Maybe I have acquired these qualities after becoming a mother.
What is the biggest lesson your mother (or an important female figure) in your life taught you?
The biggest lesson from my mom would be that you are never too old to do the things you want to do or achieve the things you want to.
What makes you most proud of your mom (or important female figure)?
Whenever my mom picks up a hobby or something new she wants to learn no matter how hard or confusing it is she sees it though, which I on the other hand can never do.

I live approximately 20 min away from my parents house and I visit them every single month and stay with them for 4/5 days sometimes even longer. She can also come to meet me whenever she wants and yet every time I leave her house she cries. To see how much she loves me and misses me is my favorite thing about her.

As a mom, what were some of the challenges you faced? What were some of the things you learned about yourself or your kids?
Experiencing this last year in isolation has been tough. Especially having a toddler, who is just learning how to socialize with others. Also, finding ways to navigate being a working mom during a pandemic has come with its challenges. I learned a lot about my own creativity, dedication and selflessness during this last year. My child really brought me so much joy during uncertain times. She has been and continues to be the bright side.
What makes you most proud of your mom (or important female figure)?
I am most proud of my mother for her ability to love with no boundaries. My father and her faced some challenges as a young mixed race couple in their early years. My mother taught herself how to speak Spanish to communicate with her in-laws and the community she was immersed in via my dad. Both of my parents didn't come from much and they have made a beautiful life together. I am so proud to call them mine.

"Never Give Up.”

What makes you most proud of your mom (or important female figure)?
Her dedication for the family.
She is a housewife mainly but also a self dependent woman.
Alissa, Project Manager
What are you looking forward to with your new baby arrival?
Seeing the world through her eyes as she experiences things for the first time. As we get older it's easy to forget how cool the world around us can be.
What is the biggest lesson your mother (or an important female figure) in your life taught you?
How to stay optimistic. My mom has always reminded me to find and focus on the light during the dark moments and to celebrate the small wins that get me closer to where I want to be.
What makes you most proud of your mom (or important female figure)?
Her strength and determination. She is a dream chaser and doesn't let anything get in her way.

What is the biggest lesson your Mother (or an important female figure) in your life taught you?
The most important thing in my life, I have learned from my mother is to SACRIFICE. I have been seeing how my mom sacrificed all of her choices for the family. She always wanted to make us happy in exchange for anything. And one thing I have been learning from her since my childhood is - "Take as much as you need in life, and try to share the rest of it to others.”
What makes you most proud of your mom (or important female figure)?
She is a One Man Army in our family. After a month of my birth, my father went to foreign country for work. He would usually come home after two years, and stay with us for 3-4 months. I rarely get company with my father. He has spent his whole life supporting us. But my mom was the only one who fed us. She took care of the whole family (me and my two siblings) all alone. I couldn't imagine how much a woman can give to her family, if I hadn't seen my mother.

My mother never forgets my birthday. But she is so shy that she never wished me verbally. However, on all of my birthdays she cooks all of my favorite dishes.
So what happened once on my birthday, when I woke up in the morning, I saw my mother was sitting beside me. When I opened my eyes she held my hand, gently kissed my forehead and said, “Happy Birthday.”
I cannot explain my feelings at that moment in words and that is something I will always remember.

What is the biggest lesson your mother (or an important female figure) in your life taught you?
I was taught I could achieve anything I believe in, as long as I’m willing to put in the hard work required.
What makes you most proud of your mom (or important female figure)?
My mother didn’t come from a lot, but she made it her priority to give me the life she never had. She is my role model for what resilience and determination looks like. She’s my idol.

I’ll never forget the time when I was 9 and asked my mom for a “vending machine” for Christmas. That year I somehow ended up with a 2 headed-bronze candy vending machine, and a mini drink dispenser. Still to this day one of the coolest gifts I’ve ever received. She has somehow always managed to bring my crazy imagination to life.

What is the biggest lesson your mother (or an important female figure) in your life taught you?
To never settle for lowering your head or swallowing words; that one always has to pursue what one desires, to express it - even if the steps are small - focusing on moving towards it.
What makes you most proud of your mom (or important female figure)?
Her humbleness in every aspect of life.

My mother always was an excellent cook, daily she prepared comforting home meals, classic from Italian cuisine and since a boy, I always loved to be by her side in the kitchen; not every year was the best, but she never let us notice that.
She always had a hot and delicious plate of food in front of each of us. Being a child one may let those little details go by or given for granted, but as one grows up, realize how much love she gave as tablespoons, every day, in each one of the dishes that she prepared.
Today, she is no longer by our side, she has left us a legacy, every time I am preparing one of her recipes, the kitchen is flooded with smells that remind us of her and I feel that I have her by my side.

What is the biggest lesson your mother (or an important female figure) in your life taught you?t
One of the biggest lessons my mom has taught me is how beneficial it can be to talk out your problems. My mom always encouraged me to discuss with someone all the things that were stressing me and then to evaluate them. She would say that if it was something I could change, to work on it and if it was outside of my control, to not let it bring me down. I've been doing this since I was a kid and it really helps me put my problems into perspective.
What makes you most proud of your mom (or important female figure)?
One of the things that makes me the proudest of my mom is her perseverance. When things don't go as planned, she's always willing to give it another shot and try again. I really admire this about her and hope that I can learn to be as strong and brave as her someday.

As a mom, what were some of the challenges you faced? What were some of the things you learned about yourself or your kids?
One of the challenges of being a parent is how to instill discipline in your child. I learned that I can be more patient and selfless when it comes to being a mom to my daughter.
What is the biggest lesson your mother (or an important female figure) in your life taught you?
My mom always tells us "to only spend within your means" and to this day she lives by it.
What makes you most proud of your mom (or important female figure)?
I am proud of my mom for holding the family together, enduring all the challenges the family encountered and remaining simple and content with the life they (mom and dad) had built.

What is the biggest lesson your mother (or an important female figure) in your life taught you?
An important lesson my mom taught me is to always check to make sure you have all ingredients before making a recipe. It's simple but I always manage to forget something and have to run to the store. She also taught me to always try my best because that's all that anyone has ever asked. She's my biggest cheerleader.
What makes you most proud of your mom (or important female figure)?
I'm most proud of the way my mom focuses all her attention on a person when they speak. She will drop whatever she's doing and listen when I talk to her about my day or have questions. It makes me feel like I'm all that matters in those moments.

As a mom, what were some of the challenges you faced? What were some of the things you learned about yourself or your kids?
2020 was challenging having the kids at home and juggling with growing a company at the same time. That said, I enjoyed having the kids around even as they constantly interrupt my Zoom calls and my focus. I learned to appreciate the teachers and their patience the whole time my kids were virtual learning. I expelled them from homeschool the first week but lucky for us their teachers had the determination and patience to continue educating.
What is the biggest lesson your mother (or an important female figure) in your life taught you?
My mom instilled strong work ethics in us. I didn't come to appreciate her circumstances until I became a mom. She was raising the 3 of us while my dad was away and never failed her duty as a provider, educator, chef, mom and daughter in law.
What makes you most proud of your mom (or important female figure)?
She gave us the opportunity to further our education and see another country, something that she didn't get to do. I am forever grateful for this and am taking full advantage of it.

My best memories are the ones in the kitchen where I'm helping out with dinner and desserts.
